Problem Formulation and Identification Paper Problem Formulation and Identification Paper Any organization which requires expanding its business in a given area must analyze the problems in the area of focus and develop the necessary plans and decisions which will assist in proper establishment of the organization (Bouyssou, 2010). There are different issues that appear in the business scenario of having a greater presence on Kava. In order for VIT Company to succeed in business, it has to focus on the issues in Kava Island.

The problems affecting cover include man-made catastrophes and natural phenomena. The man-made problems can be mitigated, but natural problems become difficult to control. Some of the problems which man can mitigate include HIV AIDS, terrorism, petroleum spills, and the spread of avian flu. On the other hand, natural calamities, such as Tornados, hurricanes, tsunami, floods, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes cannot be man-controlled. Through curbing some of these problems, VIT Company will have a greater presence on Kava.

By having a greater presence on Kava, the VIT Company will solve the problem of food to a greater population of the world. Hence, elimination of some of the problems facing the island will be beneficial to the VIT Company and the world’s population at large. In formulating the problems in Kava Island, VIT Company will require the forces such as the government involvement in the provision of a security, community based organizations in offering voluntary services, other businesses, and faith groups to offer moral support.

The government may be involved in providing armed forces in the provision of the security; community based organizations can provide support in terms of offering voluntary services such as immunization and easy labor; other businesses can help through sharing of potential ideas; faith groups can provide counseling in problem formulation. In solving problems in the island, the VIT Company will face various obstacles. One of the obstacles that the organization will face is an exceedingly long time to convince the government of the need to increase security forces on the island.

Government processes take remarkably long time (Bouyssou, 2010). Finding community based organizations which will work voluntarily without payment would be exceedingly difficult. Another problem would be the lack of enough resources to support the entire program of the organization. There are costs associated with the establishment of a greater presence on Kava, which the organization must pay. In addition, the environmental hazards, such as floods, tornados, hurricanes, and volcano eruptions will pose a danger on the individuals involved in the organization’s decisions, such as the security men and the supervisors of the program.

In the decision making process of establishing a greater presence on Kava, the VIT Company has to analyze the advantages and the demerits that would be involved. In case the benefits are more than the demerits, the organization should go ahead with the decision (Bouyssou, 2010). On the other hand, if the demerits would be more than the merits, there would be no need of proceeding with the decision. Eliminating the problem threats of the island will require a lot of costs. The issues of the island cannot be solved fully.

Issues, such as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, cannot be mitigated. By analyzing the cost effect of the decision to a greater presence on Kava, the organization will require a lot of capital. The decision will depend on the availability of capital and the risk profile of the organization. References Bouyssou, D. (2010). Decision Making Process: Concepts and Methods.
