The State of California Introduction The state of California is known to be the most innovative state as it comes up with newer things every passing day. An example of Golden State technology can be taken here which started as a result of World War II. There is a limitless optimism in the state now that the”I” technology (ipod, iphone, and ipad) will bless the state with good times as it had always promised. Today Californians are highly amalgamating the technology in their daily lives. They link to entertainment, education, and government, and to each other via tablets, web, personal computers, net books, iphone and ipad. Citizens are so engrossed in technology that they didn’t realize at times that they are the lucky ones in whole of United States to be gifted with such benevolence. They execute communications whenever and where ever with whomever they wish to at whatever time they want to at their level of convenience. 1 For the future it is necessary for the Californians to come up with technologies that can easily integrate into their everyday life. This technology can exhibit a positive impact on the whole economy of California. This particular paper will put forward the evolvement of technology as it has been in the state of California. Past Technological revolution has always been on its highest peak in California. It is the only state in United States which has outclassed all other states in the field of technology. 1950s mark the leasing of space to highly automated companies by Stanford University in Palo Alto. This was the beginning of technological revolution in California. Silicon Valley itself is the ocean of such innovations with Hewlett-Packard its first resident and now the heart of Silicon Valley. However, the term Silicon Valley was not much recognized until the year 1980. The milestones of Silicon Valley include Intel microchips in 1971 and then the most penetrated personal computer (PC) in 1977 by Apple Inc.2 Len Kleinrock, a UCLA computer science professor, was the first one to accomplish in sending data from one computer to another in the city of angels, Los Angeles, Stanford to a thirty miles away area. He only typed the letter ‘L’ and letter appeared all of a sudden on a computer screen in Palo Alto. Subsequently, he typed letter ‘O’ and same thing happened. Excitedly, he typed ‘G’ and the system halted; but nevertheless a massive invention which was to change the world in the future was born- The Internet.3 The State of California has the privilege of having Silicon Valley as it paved the road to first ever digital revolution with the improvement of Personal Computers during the tenure of 1980s. Ultimately, this boom ended as quickly as it has emerged and thousands of businesses went down. But the state of California had a nonstop ferment of innovations and creativity waiting for the world to explore. After a tiny lapse of time, the period of innovations began again. It was the World Wide Web (The Internet) which became the talk of the town in no time. But this innovation required the largest investment on Earth yet to be spending on. Late 1990s witnessed no unemployment in Silicon Valley due to this massive technological outburst. Thousands and thousands of entrepreneurs and risk takers lend billions of dollars from their lenders in a hope to cash it in the future with their new big idea. It was not like the Gold Rush which occurred 150 years ago; it was different, it was a marvel which said that ‘details are yet to come.’ Nonetheless this boom came to a halt as well as the world crossed millennium. Most of the businesses with a snappy logo and more than a eye catching logo bored the people and thus failed. The whole state was in a state of terror and frustration as energy shortages were gifted to the state in the beginning of the millennium. 4 Present In the present era it is seen that technology has proved to be of great benefit to the entertainment industry itself. The three entertainment industries that benefit the economy of California are; Hollywood, Universal Studio and Disney Land respectively. These three industries use technology in almost everything that they enter in. Hollywood is the largest movie making industry in the world and is able to excel in providing quality by using specific technology. With the right kind of technology they are able to produce a high quality of picture and sound altogheter. Universal studio on the other hand is helping Hollywood to use their technology in the most efficient way. It gives a personal experience to the viewers of the fake world that Hollywood is particularly creating. An example of Studio ride can be taken here which gives the audience a fake but real earth quick. Disneyland on the other hand uses other technologies to entertain people in the most remarkable manner. The examples of 3d shooting, submarine Nemo and other 3ds can be taken here. The state of California has used technology in the most efficient manner by researching and operating at the same time. Using computers and internet all over has improved the general sectors of California. Educational sector is particularly using this technology to research and use information accordingly. They use specialized computers instead of hand written books which might take a lot of time in researching. The specialized option of ctrl+f should be of emphasis here as it helps to go on to the exact information that is required. These technologies help Cal state to give lectures that are accessible at any time and the requirement of the old fashioned books is no more felt. However on the other hand this also gives rise to excess spending as it becomes very expensive for a student to study in these terms of technology. A challenging feature of technology is that the students cannot complete their projects if they do not have an access to the right piece of technology. It is because of these reasons that the students tend to buy heavy products like Iphone and ipad which help them to complete their homework. This new technology helps them to get their work completed faster than it could ever be done. In other words technology has given a leap to the students of California as they are now able to do hefty amount of work in a very short time. It has instituted the whole Californian system to produce graduates who are highly efficient and capable to perform certain tasks. A potent tool as technology is perceived to be, it makes it possible for the government of the state to re state and see how effectively it interacts with its consumers and serve the people of California. An example of it can be derived from the Californian data as it can be easily shared through internet. The data is easily accessible to the businessmen and hence can help them to know more about the business spectacles of the state. It provides an excellent opportunity to convey services with economy and expediency as expected by the people of the state. To guarantee success, this information technology must comprehend the priorities and workings of the state’s programs and also the needs and requirements of California’s citizen and the pledge of technology of today. This plan emphasizes on operational tasks and specific responsibilities. It also provides guidelines for the strategic objectives as the pioneers for the technology community and also decision-makers in bolstering the state business and programs for enhanced community allocation. In devising this plan, the input is gathered from state leaders of the department of information technology, policy and program leaders, and also from the private sector. The input we gather assists us to identify the key issues and challenges which pose a dire need to be addressed in an endeavor to enhance the strategic empowerment of technology in the state. 5 Future The future of the Californian state is rather predictable as the young and old Californians would adapt to the newer technology. They would rather take the technology as a requirement and not a form of luxury. It is this technology which helps one to complete a certain task in the shortest time possible. Considering the busy schedule of the people living in California, technology is a blessing for them to get done with their tasks earlier than they could have been done. This technology would also help the state to benefit the industries that are located in the state. In particular the entertainment industry can be benefitted by the hi-fi technologies. Altogether technology is the epicenter of California and it would give rise to a brighter California than it is now. The plan for California future implementation of technology builds on the premise recognized in the former California Information Technology Strategic Plans. Furthermore, other issue is brought up in the lime light which is faced by the department of Information Technology on a daily basis. The urge for collective accountability and governance and also the need for a robust system of information technology workforce which will further strengthen the system of information technology in California. The plan also focuses on the guiding principles of Enterprise Value, Service, Accountability, Leadership, and Collaboration as the foundations of technology initiatives and decision criteria. These principles are the sandstone for the best interests of the people of California and hearten them to conduct genuine dialogue about the planned initiatives implemented in accordance with the long term objectives of the state. 6 Conclusion Technology plays a broad role in the past, present and future of California altogether. World War II marked a new era for the state as it helped the state to improve in terms of technology. Technology in particular is designed to help the people of California to benefit from it in terms of every sector. Nowadays the educational sector of the state is almost dependent on the new terms of technology and it helps in both research and teaching. The major sectors of technology including the entertainment sector also use technology for the purpose of fun. Above all the government of California is also using technology to provide the residents with the relevant information that they might need. Accessibility is the major feature that technology has offered to its residents. Technology has brought positive effects to the whole economy of California and it is now almost impossible for the Californians to survive without it. Bibliography California.
