Full Prejudice and Teenagers The movie en d The Breakfast Club best reflects the common dilemma that confronts many teenagers. That is, of being misunderstood and prejudged. Often, people see them and would like to be what they would like them to be neglecting the individuality of the teenager of who they would like to be. These often causes conflict and dilemma of which the movie The Breakfast Club adequately portrayed. There are various characters in the film that represented that various misunderstanding about teenagers.

There is Claire, the rich girl who is pressured by her friends. Allison who is neglected at home and became recluse and so is John who is physically, emotionally and psychologically abused by his own father and his rebellion is his way of shouting to the world about his problems. Andrew the athlete is also pushed excessively at home to excel in athletics even though he never liked the idea. Even Brian the genius had problems at home because his family cannot accept the idea that he has failing grade.

These are all good kids who have gone awry because people want them to conform in their mould not considering that these kids are different persons with their individuality. That instead of being understood, accepted and supported with whatever endeavour that they would like to pursue, they were instead judged, mistreated and forced to do things they do not like. The detention was even a symbolic way of showing how society punished them for not conforming to it wanted these kids to be. Even the figure head in the film Mr.

Vernon was a prejudice person against these kids treating them with contempt under the pretence that he is just doing his job to keep them away from prison. These instances in the film reflects how people in authority are often wrong about the kids they judge upon.
