For many, design is about bringing together of ideas and then developing them into a technology that can be used by humans (techitoutuk, 2013); but design and technology go beyond this. The way human society evolves, it is in continuous need for innovative solutions, as any solution can be temporarily valid or to some an extent correct; the evolving society demands evolving design and technology, as what is unique today will be obsolete tomorrow (techitoutuk, 2013). Design and technology offers a window of opportunity to design and develop technologies using an array of materials, and gain insight into what kind of an impact these technologies are having on the environment in general and society in specific (techitoutuk, 2013).

For me Design emerges from man’s inherent need for change, versatility and innovation; whereas, technology emerges from the need to socialize and share what has been created. Initially for me design and technology could have been just about creating uniqueness but soon many other concepts merged into it and design and technology began to echo a more deeper meaning, that revolves around characteristics like emotional designing, biomimicry, sustainability and most significantly a reflection of the very nature that surrounds us.

Music is a part of our souls and nature and thus is held dear. The influence music has on me reflects in my designs and the technology that results in an effort to make this world a musical place. The more man gets immersed in technological advancement the farther he gets from nature, for the good of self and the planet; thus technology and nature when joined together, present the perfect solution. Productive Designs Productive designing and creating productive technology are the enhancing of existing designs and products to meet the needs of people or when thrown in the context of a ‘green design’; it will simply be a design that does not take toll on the environment, serves its purpose of utility and at the same time facilitates the economy (CMU, 2012).

According to Hock (1987) designing for productivity means that the product is designed rightly the first time it is attempted due to the simplicity of it; it should have a short development cycle and the transactions related to the product should also be limited. A design is defined by the artist the personality, the preferences the artist has. The design basis on either existing designs or enhances an existing design or at times incorporates a couple of designs to give rise to a new technology.

Nature and Design: The Need In an age when man seems obsessed with technological advancement and is bent upon making everything look like a machine, design and nature can be the perfect solution for those seeking closeness to nature. Nature is the essence of mankind and no matter how technologically advance man is he always craves greenery in his surroundings (design swan, 2013). With the growing size of the buildings and the limited amount of living space, green technology can bring a touch of nature where you live (design swan, 2013).

Also, nature has a way of working which makes it sustainable and enriched with uniqueness; incorporate that into design and technology and a technologically green future emerges which does not threaten the environment or the planet. Productive ideas that turn products environment friendly are the need of the hour. Focus is greatly shifting towards ‘green technology’ and many designers are making a mark with it. The way these designs gain popularity globally are clear proof of the way nature and its beauty is craved by the technologically piqued man.
